Retreats & workshops
Doing the Work Retreats:
The more I practice medicine, the more I realize that it's the injuries of our souls that show up in our physical body as illness and disease and pain. While natural remedies can be effective to manage these issues, without addressing these deeper injuries, it may be impossible to truly heal.
Kerry Lawson and I host unique 2-6 day workshops & retreats which we call "Doing the Work" to focus on exploring the deeper mental/emotional/spiritual aspects of healing. Through this series of workshops and retreats, we aim to demonstrate how all of our pain: health issues or physical pain, pain or repeating patterns in our relationships, pain/dissatisfaction in our life, is linked to unhealed emotional and spiritual injuries within ourselves. We use tools like the physical and spiritual practices of traditional yoga & philosophy, meditation, information on generational trauma, principles of naturopathic medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine to dive deeper into how to "do the work" to heal these issues and understand the differences between Managing vs really Healing. Scroll down to read more about individual workshops and dates.
Doing the Work: Exploring the Root Cause one-on-one support:
This one-on-one support is open to anyone who would like extra support or guidance to take responsibility for their lives and address the emotional and spiritual reasons that are blocking growth and healing.
If you are new to ‘Doing the Work’ we may start with some education based sessions to learn the foundations and principles. For those who have taken previous workshops, we can dive into areas that you may feel stuck and need more guidance on how to apply the Spiritual Principles.
These support sessions are focused on the emotional and spiritual root causes of pain, they are not necessarily naturopathic management of health conditions. If part of your desire to have support involves medical advice or treatment, I am happy to help and please book a regular appointment. We can still discuss emotional and spiritual issues relating to the health condition within an appointment.
You can book online here: drwoodnd.janeapp.com
Doing the Work: Spiritual Saturdays
These group sessions are open to people who have:
Please contact me if you are interested. There is no fee for Spiritual Saturdays. If you would like to make a donation to support my passion to help others ‘do the work’, you may do so. It is my desire one day that I will be able to fully immerse myself in teaching, supporting, and facilitating others with the emotional and spiritual causes of our pain and problems.

- Those who are sincere about applying the Spiritual Principles and Doing the Work in their lives

Doing the Work Part 1: March 14-15 2026, Backyard Wellness, 80 Water St, Windsor.
This two day workshop is designed to dig deeper into your Self, your soul, and explore how unresolved pain or suppressed emotions affect our lives and physical health. We will use the Four Limbs of the Tree of Avidya, from traditional yoga philosophy, to guide us through the weekend and help us understand what these soul injuries are, how they were created, how they show up, and how to start 'doing the work' to heal these deeper soul issues, which ultimately will heal our physical issues.
These retreats and workshops are experiential and educational. Kerry and I endeavour to share what we've learned and experienced to help others create awareness of these principles and teach tools and practices you can implement in your life that will help you shift from managing to healing. We balance sharing information with practices to regulate the nervous system and feel what's happening in the body throughout the weekend.
The workshop will be held on a Saturday and Sunday from 11am - 6pm. If you are coming from out of town and would like a lovely place to stay the night, our friends at the August House (theaugusthouse.ca) have kindly offered a discount to workshop attendees. Please note that lunch is not provided, bring your own or visit one of the local restaurants or cafes!
If you have any questions or would like to register, please reach out to myself or Kerry.

Doing the Work Part II: Next retreat TBD
This retreat is for participants who have done Doing the Work Part 1 as we will be building on the foundations learned in these retreats. Participants have a choice to do a three night stay or a four night stay for an immersive experience designed to regulate your nervous system, nourish your body, and expand your knowledge of yourself, your body, and your soul.
In this retreat, we will focus more on how the injuries in our souls have been created. We will help you understand how we can have these injuries even if we have not necessarily experienced intense trauma; and how early childhood events, family dynamics, generational trauma, and false beliefs shape our lives, our choices, our relationships, and our health. In the extended portion, Kerry and I will be sharing how a personal relationship with God has been game-changing on our journeys, doing our work. It is important to note that this is not guided by any particular religion as neither Kerry nor myself subscribe to any religion, it is about a direct, personal connection to God (or Creator, there are many names used!).
There is no extra charge for the program if you choose to stay for the extended version, the extra charge covers the cost of food. Registration is required, full details at yogawithkerry.net

The Cell Danger Response: March 28 11am - 5pm, March 29 10am - 2pm, Windsor NS
What if chronic disease and mental health issues are ultimately caused by a disconnection from your true self? And unhealthy family systems/patterns have created unconscious threats/danger in your cells that are preventing healing? What if healing chronic disease can be achieved not through drugs but by addressing the underlying emotional and spiritual causes?
In this workshop we will describe the biological premise of the Cell Danger Response and how it is related to chronic stress and cortisol. We will demonstrate how even though a person may not have had a severe trauma in their life, their cells may still be stuck in a danger response due to a disconnection from the authentic self and the roles one had to play in the family system. The bulk of the material will be covering family dynamics, roles, parentification, and how these patterns disconnect us from our true nature and self.
We will talk about how Traditional Yoga is a somatic tool that can help you to return to your authentic Self and will incorporate practices into the workshop. Lastly, we will discuss how to start healing from these patterns. The goal is to give you practical information and practices that you can implement in your life to start feeling better.
This workshop will be held over 1.5 days. Saturday will be held at Backyard Wellness at 80 Water St. in Windsor from 11am - 5pm. On Sunday, we will gather at 10am in Adrienne's home for traditional masala chai and healthy snacks and will continue the session until 2pm.
Spaces are limited. Register by emailing Kerry at [email protected]

Has someone told you that you need to start feeling your emotions but you have no idea how to do that or where to start? Do you want to understand more about why feeling your emotions is important not only for our mental/emotional health but also our physical health? Do you feel like you are feeling your feelings but nothing is really changing or helping?
In this workshop, Kerry and I will outline the link between suppressed emotions and disease in the body; discuss why it's important to start allowing ourself to feel the full spectrum of emotions that we have; what is processing your emotion & what is not; and practical ways to start that process. We'll also practice different tools of yoga, breathwork and other somatic exercises that will help support this journey.
Registration is required, please sign up at [email protected]
If you have additional questions, please email myself or Kerry.

Spiritual Fridays: exploring emotions and the soul
I am excited to offer a series called Spiritual Fridays. This series is for people who are keen to explore what our bodies, emotions, and life events are trying to tell us about what’s hidden or needs to be released from our soul.
The purpose of Spiritual Fridays are twofold - to spend quality time with like-minded people in community, and to dig deeper and stretch ourselves mentally & emotionally. It is aimed at putting ‘the work’ into practice, using everyday real-life situations to open up meaningful discussion and practices to dig deeper and find the soul based causes of our health issues and discomfort in life. The discussions will be group led, meaning that participants are welcomed and encouraged to share situations the they feel challenged by or stuck in, and will be facilitated.
Spiritual Fridays are for those who are open and curious, have a seeking heart and have the desire to become not only more loving to themselves in their own lives, but more loving to others and the world around us.
This series will be held every second Friday through the Fall of 2025 from 6pm-8pm, out of my home in Windsor. There is no cost for this series, and registration is required. The workshop and retreats offered by myself and Kerry Lawson - Healing Generational Pain and Doing the Work lay important groundwork to these discussions so it is encouraged to complete these, however it is not a prerequisite if someone has a strong desire to attend with an open heart. Please inquire by emailing me at [email protected].
